As Assistant Controller, you’ll take a leading role in financial operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance across the Kroeker Farms group of companies. This is a high-impact position within a fast-growing organization, offering significant opportunity for growth, innovation, and the chance to help shape the future of our finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Oversee financial transactions and record journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform consolidation of multiple entities, including reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and support job costing for field operations.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of administrative systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Support year-end audits and government reviews.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST, PST, and other tax filings.
- Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for management and other stakeholders.
We’re Looking For:

- Excellent communication skills with professional approach to customer service.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in private or public accounting, ideally with exposure to multi-entity or consolidated environments.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to solve problems and interpret data.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability to change in a growing organization with evolving systems and processes.
- Ethical, trustworthy, and committed to confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting.
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be considered an advantage.
This is a full-time position, located at our Head Office in Winkler, MB.
